[ARCHIVED] September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

Every September, libraries across the country observe Library Card Sign-Up Month. A library card is one of the most valuable “school supplies” a parent can obtain for their child. It supports the child’s ongoing learning, lasts for many years, and is available to all taxpayers at no charge. This year, every Midlothian resident of any age who signs up for a new library card during the month of September will get an entry into a drawing to win a free one-year family membership to the Field Museum in Chicago (courtesy of the Field Museum). In addition, any adult who signs up for a library card will receive a library logo coffee mug, and all kids who sign up for one will get a library logo squishy fidget toy (while supplies last). To learn what to bring when you come to apply for a library card, visit bit.ly/MidloCard or call the library at (708) 535-2027. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
