The Board recently adopted an updated Ordinance that has re-established Midlothian's Economic Development Committee. The Board has taken this action in order to include our residents and business owners in the process of development/redevelopment of Midlothian's expanded TIF district.
The EDC will consist of 7 voting members - 2 trustees, 2 business owners, 3 residents. Per Village ordinance, the EDC is required to follow the Open Meetings Act (OMA) and post agendas, publish meeting minutes and most importantly - have a quorum in order to meet. The EDC will be re-appointed annually.
The two business owners who will be on the inaugural EDC are Dennis Suglich, owner of Cuzin's and Gracie's Wine Bar (3636 147th St), and Mike Menias, owner of Happy Daze (4671 147th St).
The Board kindly requests all residents and business owners' participation and welcomes your input and ideas! All are welcome to attend the EDC meetings (meeting schedule is TBD). The success of the TIF district redevelopment will have a direct impact on the continued success of all of Midlothian's businesses and overall betterment of our community. We can't do this without you! The map of the TIF district is attached for your review. Please feel free to contact Trustee Caveney with any questions.
