[ARCHIVED] Become a Proud Library Card Holder!

Become a Proud Library Card Holder!

Every year at back-to-school time, libraries across the country observe Library Card Sign-Up Month. This tradition started back in 1987 when then-Secretary of Education William Bennett called for a national campaign for every child to get a library card and use it. Today, it continues as a reminder that a library card is one of the most valuable “school supplies” a parent can obtain for their child. It supports the child’s ongoing learning, lasts for many years, and is available to all taxpayers at no charge!

This year, in August and September, the first 50 households that sign a new member up for a library card will receive a free PROUD LIBRARY CARD HOLDER yard sign—to joyfully proclaim their library card ownership. Existing card holders can also show their library card pride by purchasing a yard sign for a suggested donation of $5 at the Checkout Desk. In addition, any adult who signs up for a library card will receive a library logo coffee mug, and all kids who sign up for one will get a library logo squishy fidget toy (while supplies last).

To learn what to bring when you come to apply for a library card, visit bit.ly/MidloCard. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please call the library for more information at (708) 535-2027,

Thanks to the Friends of Midlothian Public Library for sponsoring our yard sign giveaway.
