Posted on: March 16, 2020[ARCHIVED] Zoning Changes
Dear residents of Midlothian,
There still seems to be a misunderstanding from residents on what the Village is attempting to do with the zoning and what they believe the signs they are seeing around town mean. I know this has been explained before but I believe it needs repeating.
Let me be clear, there is no intent or desire by the Village to take anyone’s property for anything.
This is simply an attempt by the Village to reset the zoning back to what it was prior to the large scale rezoning in 2009. At that time, the Village was attempting to capitalize on the use of our train station and potential future commuters that might use it and rezoned much of the single family residential properties around the train station to high density residential. Obviously that never transpired and we have found that more and more people are telecommuting and working from home.
Now, eleven years later, we believe it is in the best interest of all of the single family residential property owners and the Village to zone it all back to single family residential.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you,
Gary L’Heureux
Village President
