Dear Midlothian Residents:
Saturday, we announced an emergency closure due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, and asked you to stay tuned for more details. Today, in response to the Governor’s recent orders regarding schools, restaurants and bars, and following recommendations from the Illinois Library Association and the RAILS regional library system, Midlothian Public Library will be closed at least through March 31. Please refer to our website, social media pages, digital outdoor sign, and email blasts for any necessary updates to this information. The Library Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 is also cancelled.
To avoid an overflow of returned materials, our Book Drop is now closed as well. Please keep all checked out materials at home until we reopen. We will not be charging or billing for overdue fines during our closure.
Just a reminder--we have a variety of eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, TV shows, and music available to check out through our website, www.midlothianibrary.org > "DIGITAL LIBRARY" > "E-MEDIA"
We understand that many members of our community rely on the library for Internet service. Please be aware that during the COVID-19 crisis, Comcast is making 60 days of free Internet Essentials service available to low income families. For more information, please call 1-855-846-8376 (English) and 1-855-765-6995 (Spanish).
Any questions or concerns may be directed to me at the email below or the Board of Trustees through their emails listed on our website. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we do our part to keep our community as safe as possible during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Cottrill, Library Director
