This is a reminder to be prepared for the warm temperatures, snowmelt and predicted rainfall this weekend and into Monday, February 4th.
Natalie Creek and Midlothian Creek may experience over-banking due to ice dams. The rain and melting snow can't seep into the frozen ground, and could cause overland flooding, basement seepage, and excessive drainage into storm sewers.
We ask that you minimize water usage during this time by holding off on laundry and not running the dishwasher. Check your gutter downspouts and sump pump discharge hoses for ice blockages. Clear the snow and ice away from your home and garage foundations. Check basements & drains in walk-out basement stairwells. Please check in on neighbors who may need assistance.
The Village will continue to track flooding events. Please send any flood photos with address to: RainReady@villageofmidlothian.org.
