Map for the new Midlothian Bike Loop.
The Village of Midlothian, the Midlothian Park District and Bremen High School were awarded a $145,000 Model Community Grant in February of 2010. The overall goal of this grant is to promote wellness through outdoor exercise and healthy eating habits. With the assistance of the Active Transportation Alliance and a group of dedicated Midlothian residents, the Midlothian Village Board recently adopted a Bike Path Plan. This Plan includes a Bike Boulevard Loop that allows bikers, walkers or runners to travel from Kostner to Homan from 149th to 145th. Special thanks to Pat Hickey who envisioned this loop. The Bike Loop links all of the important places in Midlothian. The Loop co-aligns with 147th at the Metra Station, connects to the Village Green where the gazebo has been constructed, and then diverts to residential neighborhood streets while connecting to the parks. Bicycle signs have been installed by the Public Works Department to identify the Bike Loop. Formal maps are currently being prepared by the Active Transportation Alliance, and the map can be download from the attached link. The Bike Path Plan outlines numerous goals, and the Village plans to apply for additional grant dollars so that some of the recommendations can be implemented.
