[ARCHIVED] Forest Preserves of Cook County presents: 100 years, 100 events celebration!

The Forest Preserves of Cook County invites residents from the Village of Midlothian and across the county to celebrate the district’s 100th Anniversary in September.

A week-long Centennial Celebration, 100 Years/100 Events kicks off Sunday, September 20 and continues daily through Sunday, September 27.

Most Cook County residents are a short car ride away from the beauty, programs and special features of a nearby preserve. The Centennial Celebration is a great time to explore the preserves: If you’re a frequent visitor, consider trying a new location; if you’ve never ventured into the wilderness of Cook County, pick a spot close to home to get to know well. Activities are planned for all ages and, virtually, all interests.

Canoeing and kayaking, archery, nature hikes and bird watching line the agenda, along with self-directed activities such as bike riding.

Most significant of all the events is the week’s grand finale – a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of the county’s largest tree-hug. Join hundreds in grabbing other’s hands to wrap yourself around one of the beautiful trees at Caldwell Woods.
