Department Mission

The mission of the Midlothian Police Department is to protect and serve the community we police in a legal, ethical and professional manner.

Mission describes the purposes and philosophy of an organization. It is the starting point for the organization's goals, objectives and plans, and should focus on what the organization really tries to do.

An organization's mission statement should clearly specify its business by answering the questions of what, who and how: what is the organization's business; who are the organization's customers; and how does the organization go about its business.

The business of policing is to protect and serve. We protect by preventing crime, enforcing the law, and maintaining order. We serve by solving problems, resolving conflicts, and performing public safety and service activities. Each member contributes to doing our business by performing his and her duty, regardless if he or she is sworn or civilian.

Our customers are the people who live, work and travel through the Village. Together, these people form the community that we police.

We must go about our business in a legal, ethical and professional manner so as to maintain the community's trust and support.

Therefore, the mission of the Midlothian Police Department is to protect and serve the community we police in a legal, ethical and professional manner.

Our mission is summarized by the words: Duty-Community-Integrity.
