1. I don't need a permit. Should I still call the Village?

Yes. All contractors are required to be licensed annually with the Village. We verify they have insurance, bonding and where required, State licensing. Even when a permit is not required you should call the Building Department and ensure your contractor is licensed to work in Midlothian.

2. How do I find out what a property is zoned?

4. What do I need a permit for?

Any time you are add new or move structural, electrical, plumbing or mechanical elements you must obtain a permit. Things like new carpet, painting or drywall do not require a permit where as replacing siding, gutters, etc. does require a permit. If you are uncertain if you need a permit, please call first.
