[ARCHIVED] Governor's Hometown Award 2012

Mayor Terry Stephens is proud to announce that the Village of Midlothian was the recipient of a 2012 Governor’s Hometown Award, recently announced by Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

The winning project was the Charlie and Betty Hillyer Memorial Gazebo entered into the Beautification and Sustainability Category for communities with populations between 10,001-25,000. “100% of this project was undertaken through private donations of more than $60,000 and countless hours of volunteer efforts, more than 100 on construction alone,” said Mayor Stephens. “We certainly didn’t set out to win any awards when we began the journey of creating the Charlie and Betty Hillyer Memorial Gazebo, but it is certainly gratifying to be recognized by the State for the effort, determination and pride that went into this project.” Residents can expect to see recognition signs placed around this Village this spring.
